Are you concerned about your child making a web site?
This is a picture of me published in the Grand Rapids Press when I was 9 years old. The caption gives my age, street address and full name. I'm pretty sure they didn't even get my parents permission. Like the article says below, my shared information did not result in "negative ramifications." No one came to my house after seeing this picture in the paper or even wrote me a note.
As a parent myself, of course I want to keep my kids safe, but I also want to teach them to use their common sense in life and on the computer. I love the idea of empowering my children to publish their works online and to be able to share them with an interested audience. My goal would be for all students to create a web site in kindergarten and add to it through their educational career. Pictures of art projects from year to year would be priceless. The technology is here and I believe that Digital Portfolios will be here soon too. We are just trying to stay ahead of the game!

Please feel free to look around the web site. It is a continual work in progress, but it should give you an idea of what things students will learn. You can download the permission slip on by clicking on Download File.
